Amsterdam Oil Wrestling

Fun Amsterdam proudly presents Amsterdam Oil Wrestling – probably the best thing ever.

We here at FunAmsterdam believe that happiness can be easily achieved through a simple equation – oil + super hot stripper + wrestling = Amsterdam oil wrestling (awesomeness).  Stop us if we go wrong.

Amsterdam oil wrestling

Amsterdam Oil Wrestling basically does exactly what it says on the tin.  We will set up your arena in a popular venue in the city center.  We’ll treat each member of your group to a free beer or soft drink, while we fill the arena with large amounts of oil.  Then we’ll have a couple of our hottest dancers strip down to bikinis and wrestle each other for your entertainment!

There isn’t really an analogy for how incredibly awesome this activity is – the last place it was possible to party like this was the Roman Empire.  Imagine sitting comfortably with a cold beer, enjoying some tasteful music, and watching two of the hottest girls you have ever seen wrestle one another in a large pool of oil.  The key to what makes this activity so much fun is very simple – combining super hot strippers with oil wrestling and beer is a fail safe way to have an amazing time.  Fact.

Amsterdam Oil Wrestling is the ultimate stag event!

This is THE activity to get for your stag do.  You’ll watch our two sexy ladies wrestle for two rounds, then once they have brushed up on their technique you can throw the lucky, lucky stag in to enjoy their tender mercies.  Watch and laugh as your friend is overpowered by two oil drenched hotties -something we should all experience before getting married!  Honestly, if you don’t give the groom the opportunity to try this you can consider yourself a failure as a groomsman.  Don’t think.  Book.  Book now.

Amsterdam Historic Walking Tour

Discover the history of one of Europe’s most beautiful and influential cities with the Amsterdam Historic Walking Tour!

Described as “the birthplace of liberalism” by writer and historian Russell Shorto, Amsterdam has an incredible, vibrant, moving history.  Our city has left a legacy that has impacted the entire world.  Discover all of this and more on our comprehensive Amsterdam Historic Walking Tour!

Amsterdam Historic Walking Tour Amsterdam was founded circa 1390, when a small community arrived at the mouth of the River Amstel and decided to attempt to dam the river.  Their efforts were successful, and they were able to create land out of literally nothing.  The entirety of Amsterdam now sits on land that should be beneath water.  It is from the incredible efforts of this small medieval community that the city derives its name – Amsterdam, the dam on the River Amstel.

A VOC shipyard during the Golden Age

Since then Amsterdam has gone from strength to strength, despite having faced enormous challenges.  During the medieval period the city built its name and influence on trading in preserved fish, particularly herring.  As Europe became engulfed in the religious conflicts of the reformation Amsterdam challenged the Hegemony of the mighty Holy Roman Empire, turning the city into a haven of religious tolerance.  In time this spirit of toleration drew oppressed and disowned peoples from across the world to make a home in the Free City.  In particular Amsterdam has been a haven for Jewish communities since the Sephardic diaspora from Spain and Portugal in the late 16th century.  In 1680 the city entered it’s Golden Age, a period characterized by the incredible wealth brought into the city by the VOC, the Dutch East India Company.  It was this influx of wealth that catalysed the rapid expansion of the cities signature canal ring system.  This period produced some of the greatest philosophers, scientists, artists and statesmen that Europe has ever seen.  These men and women left an unquestionable imprint upon the history of the world.

Entering a period of decline in the 19th century, the  city was revitalized by construction and industrial projects in the 1890’s.  However, it was increasingly the scene of civil unrest.  Several large scale riots broke out in the early 20th century, most famously the Aardappeloproer (Potato rebellion).  The 20th century saw Amsterdam facing terrible threats and enormous challenges.  In 1940 the city was occupied by Nazi Germany, and some Amsterdammers gave shelter to persecuted Jews, exposing themselves and their families to great risk.  The efforts of the Amsterdam resistance Amsterdam Historic Walking Toursaved many hundreds of people, including more than 600 children, from deportation and almost certain death.  Despite this, this period was one of terrible suffering in the city.  More than 100, 000 Dutch Jews were deported from The Netherlands during the Second World War.  Some 60,000 of these were from Amsterdam, whose vibrant Jewish community was decimated.  The final years of the war were times of extreme shortages of food and fuel – The people of the city consumed dogs, cats and tulip bulbs for survival.

But Amsterdam did survive, and moved on from strength to strength.  New suburbs were built around the city following the War, and these included many beautiful parks and improved housing.  But despite the destruction caused by the war, the Historic Amsterdam Walking Tourcity’s population has remained fiercely protective of its distinct style of architecture and aesthetics.  In 1975 a series of disturbances broke out known as the Nieuwmarktrellen (Nieuw Markt Riots). Residents and protesters clashed with municipal police whilst attempting to defend homes in the Nieuwmarkt area from demolition planned to make way for a new metro line.  In response the city council suspended its plans for further metro expansion.

As the 20th century closed Amsterdam has seen a full scale restoration of its city center, pioneered by large private organisations such as Stadsherstel Amsterdam.  Today the entire city center is a protected area, and many of its buildings hold historic monument status.  The Herengracht, Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht all hold places on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Amsterdam Rage Room!

Holidays are all about unwinding – sometimes the best way to do that is by destroying something!  The Amsterdam Rage Room gives you the chance to vent that inner rage!

Deep down, we all love random destruction. Sound of smashing glass, the feel of the table giving way beneath the sledgehammer, the particular crash of a full stocked set of shelves coming down – some part of us loves it all.  Time to get in touch with your inner destroyer in our Amsterdam Rage Room!

Amsterdam Rage Room

We all have our own little frustrations.  How many times has that photocopier jammed?  Are you really going to have to clean the dishwasher again?  Did your laptop really just crash just as you were finishing that assignment?  Do you ever see something on tv that makes you want to, I don’t know, smash it into a million pieces?

Release the beast in the Amsterdam Rage Room!

Despite what you may have been told by your parents, teachers, law enforcement officials and possibly your therapist, these are very natural, healthy urges.  Funamsterdam doesn’t believe in making people change – we believe in providing people with events and experiences to make them happy.  And what makes some people happy is taking a baseball bat to a computer.  We get it.  That’s why Funamsterdam is proud to present The Amsterdam Rage Room!

The Amsterdam Rage Room is a safe space for you to be yourself without fear of judgement.   By this we mean that it is a specially prepped room full of destructible objects, and large, blunt objects for you to break them with.  Our safety specialist will lead you through a safety talk to make sure that you don’t hurt yourself, and in addition you will be required to wear special protective clothing, head gear and eye protection.  This is in order to make sure you are the only thing in the Amsterdam Rage room that is certain not to be harmed in any way!

Amsterdam Rage Room

But what is in the rage room  we hear you ask?  What could possibly deserve us arming you with an assortment of heavy tools and setting you on a path to annihilation?  Simple – you tell us.  Sick of the office photocopier?  We’ll have an unsuspecting unit placed in the rage room for you  settle things with.  Feel like your computer rules your life?  We’ll have a PC in the room so you can show it who’s really boss.  Tired of washing plates?  We’ll give you a stack of them to smash into smithereens.  Sick of seeing rubbish on tv?  this is your chance to turn a tv into rubbish.

Meet our team! Ivan: "Amsterdam is fun because it evokes smiles for miles!"

Our Colleague Ivan talks about his love for Amsterdam, his job, and what’s it like being SMURFED.

At Fun Amsterdam we offer various types of activities to suit many different travel styles. How do we do it? By having an awesome team of fun-loving individuals who always add something of their own to the mix!

In this series of posts you’ll get to know the members of our team – the faces of Fun Amsterdam.

If you drop by to our office you’re very likely to get charmed by our managing director Ivan. He’s known for his catchprase “smiles for miles” and his big smile that he doesn’t spare. Ivan comes from a background that’s very mixed in nationalities and speaks FIVE LANGUAGES, which tends to scare the new coworkers away. But, we all got used to it… Eventually. :)

“I love the planet we all share, and would love to see our differences become our strengths as a people”, says Ivan with his big smile, and so we begin this interview.

Tell us a bit about your job?

I love being a part of our knowledgeable staff. They continually express their love of our city, giving people the time of their lives. Most important for me is the equality amongst the people that visit here and the people that work for our company. The atmosphere empowers all to feel at home. Build your foundations and hold the castle of your dreams in the sky above.

What’s the main advantage of FunAmsterdam?

You could be Ronnie Wood from the rolling stones (no joke, he was on our boat last week!), or just Mr Smith and Mrs Smith. If you can dream it, we simply make it happen! Our company motto says “Everything is possible” and I believe that the city of Amsterdam truly gives back to its people, reminding them to feel that there are no rules that are set in stone. Be it in events, shopping, attractions, or engineering; the City of Amsterdam gives back as much as you are willing to put in.

Why do you think Amsterdam is fun?

Fun in Amsterdam, for me takes all the aspect of a capital city, and gives you the village feeling – where anything on your mind can be said and felt. Ride a bike and let the city amaze you. There is this open communication between the mixed cultures of Amsterdam. Belonging to Amsterdam is what defines the meaning of the sign “I (Am) Amsterdam”, and that’s something that i have never seen in the same intensity elsewhere.

If you could choose only one tour or activity we offer, which one would that be and why?

The one activity that i am an absolute fan of, is the Smurffette or Minion bar tour. “Unforgettable“ is the word to be used for describing this.

What so special about Amsterdam Smurfette?

You can forget a stripper, but you just can never forget being smurfed! Our Smurfette has a proper broadway experience. She also sang with the rock and roll greats! She is the kind of girl that can over power you despite her small size. At first i thought how difficult it must be to be humiliated for a living; but in Amsterdam everything is possible and her pride is what I noticed right after. She puts great confidence and energy out there. She loves playing the game and continually turns the tables with her groups. As I said, you just can never forget being smurfed!

The only bad thing about his position, says Ivan, is that he ends up hearing all the praise – even if it’s meant for his coworkers.

“But in the end”, says Ivan, “it keeps me and my colleagues going when we relay the information directly to in team briefings over a cup of coffee.”

Amsterdam entdecken mal anders: Das Bierfahrrad

Amsterdam Heineken Brauereibesichtigung
